An old sale, Ärmelabzeichen für Angehörige der Reiter-HJ :
Indeed a scarce patch and one on my hit list. Bob Coleman owns a uniform from the Rieter HJ that he has posted on other forums. It has an odd shoulder strap combination I've not seen anywhere else, red numerals with yellow piping. There is one on MIL 321 right now that appears to be a fake to me.
If you notice in the photo of the Jungvolk leader wearing the Reiter sleeve insignia....the lances are black and the flag pennants are white , where as the patch on Mil 321 ....the lances are white and the flag pennants are black .
The photograph matches the insignias in the members collections , but the one for sell does not .
If you go by the 1933 book 'Die Uniformen der HJ' and the 1938 and 1943 editions of the 'Organisationsbuch der NSDAP' then it would seem to be the case that these patches always had white flags. The Organisationsbuch isn't always that reliable but still.
I noticed a difference between the earlier and later flags in that the later patches had curved flags like those on the photo in post 1. The early flags have an extended straight edge before curving down. The early patches measure 5.8cm (height) by 4cm. The RZM regs for 1936 don't list this patch unfortunately.
From the OB and a booklet (noticed the term Prüfungsabzeichen) :
Well i think that makes sense that it is a prufungsabzeichen as they had to take a exame to qualify for the patch,at least that makes sense to me.a scarce piece of insignia
I'm looking for photos wich show the HJ membershipbadge in wear.PM me when you might have something for me.Thanks!
