    Default more stuff around

seems to me this is forum is having a very positive effect on dealer stock. There seems to be much more HJ BDM coming on the market lately as witnessed by the great tabs diamonds and photos showing up. It must be remembered that much of the youth material did not display a swastika and may not have been high on dealer search lists UNTIL NOW

    Paul,

Do you think that it is possible to gather info from the members to ascertain scarcity of triangles? This would give a good idea when we see them as far as how pricing should be. There are obviously more of some around than others. Just a thought.

Agree with a lot of what you say here Paul. I think also that HJ has not really been popular, but with the price of SS, Heer, etc going up, it's attracting more collectors due to for the most part more reasonable prices. But they are going up fast these days it seems.
I collect HJ/DJ shoulder straps and boards, and DJ Sigrunes

NO DOUBT IT IS A DOUBLE EDGED SWORD friend as we are also causing a supply and demand issue also which TR dealers are very fast to pick up on.
Ref the common to rare issue most collectors haunt the sights and can tell you from memory which ones are common rare. For example the Sudetenland triangles are most in abundance and sit on dealer sites much longer so do the research set up a dealer shopping list and do a daily watch or as you can do it, soon you will see the movement and prices fall into place.

I guess that like everything related the III Reich, more people will get interested and prices, of course, will go up big time. Meaning that many B*st*rds will start producing mass fakes.

I am sure that events like yesterday, 70 years from the star of the world, will get people more into collecting stuff. And maybe in the 30's (2030), all these tinnies will be ultra expensive... meaning, my retirement is safe??:tongue_smilie:

    Paul,

    Good observations.

One more thing that affects prices [which may not a factor here] is that when a new reference book comes out interest on that subject surges and therefore so do prices.

When Jack Angolia was photographing my items for his hj book, he told me buy everything you can before the book comes out, because prices will increase when it hits the street.
I found that to be to true when I begain selling my items.

A recent prime example of this was the recent publication of Jeff Clark's "NSDAP Political Leader" book. P.L. prices have gone INSANE since it came out, as a result I've stopped buying P.L. items.

Triangle prices that I thought were high a few years ago, now seem quite normal. It's funny how I've become "conditioned" by the sellers.

Moral of the story - Don't publish a triangle book unless you have ALL of them that you'll ever want OR you have a large collection income.

Very insightful and true Kevin. Wims new book comes out in just weeks now, I think we will see triangles and straps prices increase rapidly. Better buy some more today I suppose.

Just one question, a "story" that I heard a few years ago regarding the "popularity" of HJ knives.

Is it true that HJ knives got a big boom after people watched "Saving Private Ryan"? At the end of the day in Omaha Beach, one of them said that he found a HJ knife.

I heard this thing a couple of times but not sure if it is just BS - Quatsch (auf Deutsch)
