Reichsdeutsche Jugend Ausland (female) sleeve triangle

Great. Anything which would be useful for this thread? Was this post of any use to you? ==> http://www.hj-research.com/forum/f45/reichs-deutschejugend-ausland-4139/#post30944

Yes , Lauri send to me scans from Saris-book .
Now , i know that's this triangle was worn in West-Europeen-country ! We have picture from Belgium-BDM who worn this triangle ! I think (may-be) that's this triangle was worn (may-be) not in France , but a small part of France : Elsass !

Yes, Belgium is on the list of the countries officially noted as being 'Reichsdeutsche Jugend im Ausland' in the period book from which I'm quoting. England, Ireland, Holland, Portugal, Switzerland, Luxemburg and Spain are also Western European and on the list but France is not. You seemed to want to know whether France was a possible origin for the triangle you showed and I approached my answer based on that premise.

Eupen and Malmedy were incorporated into the HJ on the 18th of May 1940. On the 12th of September in the same year the Deutsche Volksjugend Elsaß was incorporated into Gebiet 21 Baden and the Lothringsche Jugend was incorporated into Gebiet 25 Saarpfalz (later Westmark)**

These dates are after the introduction of the triangle in 1939* so if the Reichsdeutsche Jugend triangle was being worn prior to that in the french regions then I would really expect to see France or at least those parts of France mentioned above listed as being part of the Reichsdeutsche Jugend.

I'm thinking logically here. Yes, I would expect to see pictures of the Reichsdeutsche triangle being worn in Belgium as that country is on the list but not France as that country is not listed as a 'Kameradschaftsland'.

If your reference can assist further please don't hesitate to post it. You started this thread after all :thumb:

* I don't have a reference showing the introduction date for the triangle but Joe would appear to have a source which says 1939.

Edit: these pics were posted later in this thread by Delatour but I've copied them to here too. Thanks Delatour :thumb:

Many thank's , Garry , for your reply !
It's a very good forum :clap2::clap2::clap2:

Last night I got an answer, both triangles are on hold for an other collector. The same as always, I got the answer 1 or 2 days later as other collectors. So I'm not sure if this trader waits until another one orders the same I want. And here are some mates who get their confirmation 1 day earlier.

I've tried to order 2 triangles but no reply until now.

My last post was more question than anything else to be honest Delatour :001_smile: These Reichsdeutsche Jugend im Ausland triangles are really bugging me.

The book I'm using here (containing the list of HJ Reichsdeutsche Kameradschaftsländer) is only giving me half of the story as it doesn't mention the triangles so I can't build up the complete picture. It would be nice to see a reference showing exactly when they were introduced and whether the HJ organisations in the various countries were obliged to wear the triangle. I don't doubt that they existed I'm just trying to complete the picture.

Hope that one day we have a good reference for this triangle in this forum ..

You have to be quick with this dealer, normally the best items are gone minutes after the update. He has a huge mailing list as there is much competition for desirable items.

One thing I don't like about this dealer, Wietze, and a couple of others, they don't have a feature that takes the item out of inventory immeadiatly when it's sold.

Kempig's site makes the item unavailible as soon as you select and pay for it. I like that feature a lot.

RDJ Ausland triangle

Morning Gents,

very interesting reading here and great information shared. Thanks. However, one post, I think it is from you, Garry, attracted my attention: why were these triangles only worn in the Western European countries? What triangle has been worn normally in the occupied Eastern countries (like Romania, Hungary, etc) where HJ/DJ/BDM units were formed?

Thanks in advance and regards

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

The youth organisation in the countries you mentioned was the 'Deutsche Jugend'. You can see the distribution on the attached picture. These were ethnic Germans (Volksdeutsche). The Deutsche Jugend also wore triangles but these are very scarce and of a different pattern. You can see some of those currently known here The Saris book may contain more but I don't have a copy of that.

Here is a set of documents for a girl who was a member of the Deutscher Mädelbund in the Deutsche Jugend Banat and Serbia.
