Hi,
The Bund deutscher Kolonialjugend was one of a small number of colonial youth organisations that were incorporated into the Jung-Kolonialring. Orders issued by the RJF on the 12th and 23rd of July 1933 stated that members of the Jung-Kolonialring were to be incorporated into the HJ and that they should wear HJ uniforms. The order also states that they were permitted to wear the southern cross (Kreuz des Südens) on the lower left sleeve. A further order from 11.12.1936 mentioned rank patches and other insignia and stated that they were not permitted to be worn on the HJ uniform any longer. This may be an indication that patches like yours were indeed worn by ex-Kolonialjugend members between 1933 and 1936 after they became HJ members. Interesting item nonetheless.
