Hello Holzwurm,

when you asked me I did not remember where I had seen the information. Thanks to Joecool I do remember again
and knew where to look in my files.

It is indeed for the SHD, Joecool is correct. It is described in: "Vorschrift über die Dienstbekleidung für den Sicherheits- und
Hilfsdienst I. Ordnung und den Luftschutz-Warndienst
" from August 1, 1941. So, indeed SHD.

These oval patches were known as "Tätigkeitsabzeichen" (for a special branch of servicce within the organization
- Fachdienst). There were 5 different patches with a different letter. The official size for the shown patch = 4.0 x 6.0 cm
with a green edge (chromoxydgrün). The letter was either in white or black. The material was either cotton (Baumwolle) or
(Zellwolle), a substitute material. I do not know the exact word in english!

The patch with the "F" is for "Feuerlöschdienst", so fire-fighting service. The color for the backing was in red, the
letter to be in white for this type of patch. So, this patch has nothing to do with drivers (Fahrer).
