I can never work out if these are real or not. Have a good feeling, but I could be wrong :)
Any comments please
Thanks

Yes, Gefolgschaft is right. This shown one is fake. Originals are wider.
At the reverse you see red thread at the bottom. This you do not see
with the original version!

There is also a big distinction between the bird's beak when comparing
a fake with an original! A fake head "looks up" somewhat.

Well I've still a lot to learn It doesn't belong to me, I was surfing this morning, and saw it on a "reputable dealer's" site. So I thought, as others must do, "it looks ok"

Just goes to show eh :)
Thanks fellas. A learning curve indeed

Many many fakes of this patch are sold or offered on dealer sites as good examples. One of the most commonly faked H.J. cloth patches that I see.

Hi John,

Period books show this patch with both a pointed diamond and a flat diamond and we're still looking for a period photo showing the "pointy" version in use. That would be useful as far as knowing 100% whether this type was definitely used but as Wim has pointed out, the fakes of the patch are recognisable.
