Which leader bords where worn ? I think one of them on my picture.
Best Regards

They did wear the regular shoulder-straps with Bann-number and district triangle from the Gebiet they originally came from.
There was no new insignia introduced for the visit, just some different clothings.

All boys and leaders got the specific badge for Jugendaustausch (see my in-depth article in the "Military Advisor", volume 16,
number 4 from Fall 2005. The visits from 1938 and 1940 is dealt with with 12 pages). I am aware of two 1938 badges and only
one for 1940, which is in hands of a friend of mine, a person from Namibia. Him was offered an many, many thousands of dollars
offer, but my friend does not want to sell as it was from his father!!

Upon the cover for the MA-magazine the 1940 version is shown, also in wear! The reverse shows the 1938 badge, also in wear!
In the inner the 1938-version is shown with its original wooden box. All Kanji (Japanese characters are translated) and explained.

So, you can see various districts being worn and various different Bann-numbers with the available photographs.

No, but most of them came from the special force as they had the looks for that visit:
tall (at least 1.70 mtr), blond and not wearing glasses (all to impresse the Japanese polulation).
The boys all were highly qualified and especially selected! Various of them were talented candidates
from the Braunschweig Academy. Many of the boys were send for a visit earlier: Spain, Portugal, Belgium,
Poland and Italy.

There is a photograph after their return in Germany from December 1938, shaking hands with Reichsminister
Rudolf Hess at the "Haus des Verbindungsstabes" . None of the boys does wear a cuff-title.

The dark blue uniform looks to be the pattern worn by the DAF/DJ-Leaders as well as the sidecap . It seems that the sidecaps and the shoulderstraps have white piping .

Hello Metallwarenfabrik/Joecool,

I was aware of this website with nice photographs. Great you
remembered me with that. For my article I did use totally different
photographs, also from the visit from Japanese youth in Germany (they
attended the 1938 Party Day) and the boys visiting Japan in 1940.

There were different types of uniform, worn in 1938. For special
occasions a dark uniform was ordered, no exact description was
given, but it seems a sort of mixture from the style as worn by
the DAF-Werkscharen and the NS-Studentenbund and closely resembled
the DJ leaders uniform. It looks indeed as a white piping, which
I think was chosen from the type of piping as used at the NS-
Stundentenbund (Stamm-Mannschaft) and matched perfectly with the worn
white belt and shoulder-belt.

Here is one of my favorite pictures from the Japanfahrt. We can see numbers on the boards.
Best Regards
Alois
