The early straps are interesting as sometimes the piping matches the Landesfarben, but checking the unit locations sometimes it does not. It's still confusing to me.
Hi Gefolgschaft,
I also have doubts concerning pipings on shoulder straps.
The german collectors are of the opinion that that would match to states (Länder) and they reused the colors of the imperial army (Kaiserlischen Armee).
I think that you already have noticed, that rosettes concerned spiked helmets matched in region.
I also show you some examples of early shoulder straps of my collection.
Lauri, very interesting straps, they look great! Thank you for showing them. With your permission I will add them to the early shoulder straps article here on the forum.
Hi Gefolgschaft,

Obviously, you have my permission for your article.
Best regards
very nice to see these early straps which are not well represented in any books. Very pleased to see these added to the perminant articles for all to see and research. There are some great collections out there and thanks to this forum we are seeing more and more rarities
A lot of new information on the straps with dual colored piping has come out with the new Saris book. I will make an in depth explaination of what is said in the book regarding the coloration of the piping and numerals in the article as soon as time permits. It's very interesting.
