It looks like the flagpoles for the Bannfahne were cut from Bamboo trees . Can anyone verify this ?
That would be a good question for a future Quiz ???

Did Germany, during the Third Reich ; have Bamboo trees ?
If not , did they have to import the Bamboo from Asia ?
 
I have bamboo growing in my back yard,I live in Tennessee.I think this stuff will grow anywhere that does not get really cold for a long time.As for the flagpoles,I have a postcard showing this in another instance.

Here's an example .... bamboo in Germany

Verbreitungsgebiet: China, Jiangzhi, Zhejiang, Fujian und Anhiu Provinz.
Höhe: 10 m - 14 m. Halmstärke bis 8 cm.
An guten Standorten in Europa Höhe um 15 m, in Deutschland 10 m -12 m.
Höhe: 4,00 bis 10,00 m (China: bis 14 m)
Halme: grün, bläulich bemehlt, weißer Nodienring, im Alter bläulich-grün, senkrecht, stämmig, bis 6 cm Ø
Blätter: grün, Unterseite bläulich bis blau-grün, bis 15 cm
Wuchs: anfangs schräg, bogig überhängend, im Alter gerade, stämmig, volle Belaubung, starke Ausläufer
Standort: sonnig, geschützt, in warmen Regionen auch halbschattig
Winterhärte: -18° bis -25°. Nur in wärmeren und mlden Regionen südl. Kasseler Berge winterhart.
Platzbedarf: ab 8,00 m²
Verwendung: Solitär, hoher Sichtschutz, Hecken, Hain, schnittverträglich. Diese Bambusart zählt zu den Riesengräsern und hat an der Bergstraße Höhen über 12 Meter und in Italien schon fast 20 m Höhe erreicht.
Bemerkungen: Einführung 1846 aus China nach Frankreich. Die weit verbreiteste Bambusart in Europa. Unterschiedliche Kultivare in Umlauf. Letzte Blüte ab 1940-1952?
