I was looking into this today actually Lauri and came across your thread. Frustratingly, I can't find a reference showing exactly when these badges were introduced. I found a reference online saying that they were introduced by an Amtliches Nachrichtenblatt der RJF dated 30.6.1939 but I just read that one and it doesn't mention the patches at all.

The earliest reference to the patches I have found is dated June 1941. This is an order from the RJF regarding a recommendation for what uniform the HJ-Feuerwehrscharen should wear. The patch is noted as being worn on the left sleeve, 3 to 4cm below the elbow and of interest is the use of the word "demnächst" (soon, in due course). This clearly implies that the badge had not yet been distributed at the time of this order.

By December, the leader patch (Führerabzeichen) and the standard patch (Formationsabzeichen) are being mentioned in the "Dienstanweisung für den Streifendienst" dated 15.12.1941:

"Every member of the Feuerwehrscharen is elegible for the award of the HJ-Feuerwehrabzeichen of the Streifendienst. The badge is awarded to those who successfully complete testing as follows:

Leader badge: for leaders of Feuerwehrscharen and for officials at Gebiet level
(diamond has a white border)
Formation badge: for members of the Feuerwehrscharen
" (diamond has a karmesin red border)

So, 1941 definitely but I'd love to know when exactly.

Oh wow, I never realised that there were two levels of this badge. I thought they were the same thing but just made differently so thx for the info guys

Hello Garry, great contribution. Thanks for that.

I found a complete description of the HJ-Feuerwehrabzeichen in "Die feuerwehrtechnischen Einheiten der HJ":

I am waiting for this one. I do not think it's a fake.
