Hi,

From our Wiki page:

"Each Gebiet was divided into sequentially numbered Oberbanne beginning with Oberbann 1 and ending in the required number up to the maximum Oberbann number of 6. Some large Gebiete had the maximum 6 Oberbanne (Gebiet 9 Westfalen for example) where the smaller Gebiete had only three.

So basically, you could put any matching triangle/shoulder strap combination together with your rune patch as long as the Gebiet in question had that many Oberbanne. In the case of Oberbann 3 you can't go wrong because all of the Gebiete had at least that many.

Using Bann 5 Danzig as an example, this is how the Oberbann sat within the overall structure of the Hitler Youth until July 1934 when it was removed:

Bann 5 Danzig (along with two further Banne) formed -> Oberbann 4 Danzig-Westpreußen which, along with 3 other Oberbanne, formed ->
Gebiet 1 Ostland which, along with three further Gebiete, formed -> Obergebiet Ost.

Our Gold members have access to complete Bann lists for most years between 1933 and 1943 here:

Many thx Garry, big help. Im putting a uniform together you see:). Missing a scarf with RZM on!.

Obergebiet 3 - WEST - comprising the Gebiete of Hessen-Nassau (13), Kurhessen (14), Mittelrhein (15), Ruhr-Niederrhein (10), Westphalen (9) and Westmark (Moselgebiet, Hunsrück, etc.) (12).

Is this for Oberbann 3 so?

Well, yes and no. Until 1935 and the removal of the Oberbann as a structure, not all Gebiete had an Oberbann 5 or 6 because they simply weren't large enough to require that many. However, within all 5 Obergebiete at that time (Nord, Ost, West, Süd and Mitte) all of the Gebiete had an Oberbann 1, 2 and 3. This means that members of any Jungbann within Oberbann 3 of any Gebiet up to 1935 (removal of the Oberbann as a structure) would wear the green rune patch.

For example:

In 1934, Jungbann 1/61 Neukölln was part of Oberbann 3 Berlin-Süd within Gebiet 3 Berlin so its members wore a green Oberbann 3 rune.

However, 670 kilometres away, Jungbann 1/245 Mittelwald was part of Oberbann 3 Birkenfeld within Gebiet 12 Westmark so its members also wore the green rune patch.

I'm not sure what you mean with "no rules after 1936". The rune patches became effectively redundant after the removal of the Oberbann as a structure but they remained in use for a time. This is shown in an RJF regulation dated the 7th of March 1935. 1936 saw some of the old Oberbann colours coming into use for the specialists (Nachrichten-HJ etc) and eventually the only colour rune patch in use for normal DJ members was the old Oberbann 1 patch (red/white). The previous black/white rune patch for Oberbann 6 was re-deployed for use by NPEA students from the DJ. I hope that is what you meant but if not just give me a shout :thumb:

Okey. So a uniform from 1936 would have an red/White patch with any schulder patch/number? Until wartime?.

Just not sure about thisGarry

Hello, you have a silver full member account but you need the gold account to see the Bann lists. Gold is definitely worth that extra little money.
