These have been very well faked since the 1980s , try the burn test and see if it bubbles/ melts .

Hey guys, I got the cufftitle, and I'm not feeling too good about it. I did the burn test and the thread melts and gets hard (like melted plastic), the cufftitle is also very stiff, if I lay the it over my finger it almost goes straight across. What do you guys think? The guy swears that it came from a WWII vet and it's original.

The " I got it from the vet " story , has been used and abused since the days of Waterloo . You are buying the item , not the story .
If you paid 15 to 25 dollars for it , I would chalk it up to experiance .
Over that amount , I would try and retrieve your money .

Melting thread and stiffness of the material are bad signs, good that you got a return on it. Let us know how it goes.
