Here is the Type I cap badge, marked to O.Baudermann.

As some of you know I'm not a specialist HJ collector so I'm sure someone can correct me if I'm wrong on this. If I understand Wim Saris correctly in our conversations, this was the only authorised company allowed to produce the type one badge. This may go some way in explaining why most of these badges do not have a maker on them......

Cheers

Hi Don,

I think I must have discussed this with Wim at some point too as I have some notes here. Yes, Otto Baudermann from 1931 and joined by Assmann at some point in 1932 according to the notes although he mentions that Assman was making them illegally in 1930 and that the company was reprimanded for this.

Thanks for confirming that Garry. I assume that most (if not all) the unmarked ones are the unofficial/illegally made ones? Having said that, I don't recall ever seening an Assman maked piece....

Cheers
Don
