Hello Garry,

I don't know if I can help you because I'm not sure. With much hesitation I read .....Soldat m. Cardsen - It seems that the name is of Danish origin.

Cheers Eric. Can you read the stuff at the bottom too? I see "Anbei" "Zweitausfertigung" but that's about it :blushing:

Hello Garry,

I read : Anbei Rn 2 .- zu .... Zweitausfertigungen / Wehrmachtsangehörige .....ausgegeben werden

sorry but that's about it !!!!

Strangely, he lists his badge number as 480 in the description of his career:

I read it as Cordsen. Could be Danish/Scandinavian but also German/Germanic. Also spelled with K in stead of C. Other forms Cordtsen, Cortzen, Cortsen.

Volksbund (German Wargraves) has this Cordsen listed:
Nachname: Cordsen
Vorname: Markus
Dienstgrad: Gefreiter
Geburtsdatum: 19.05.1924
Geburtsort: Streichmühle [few kilometers east of Flensburg]
Todes-/Vermisstendatum: 01.01.1944
Todes-/Vermisstenort: Jelowed b.Starina ca.30 Km S.W.Shlobin

Hi Henrik,

With the "M" also being a match I would think that this could well be Markus Cordsen. I've amended the main list. Many thanks!

Hello Henrik,

Thank you for your help again. Your return from abroad comes just at the right time.
Could you please read the remaining words that I did not manage to decipher?

Best regards

Eric

He was KIA in 1941.
