The early Pack HJ's are not often seen, and when they do come up, they are usually in a well used condition. Same can be said for the 'regulation' versions, again not seen that often.

This has to be one of, if not the best, collection of Pack HJ's.

The collection covers all variants, from the early, through to late production.

The condition of these HJ's is simply outstanding.

I'll add a few notes as we go through.

As you can see, there are several early versions with the spanners and nuts, through to the more regulation versions we see with most other manufacturers.

Note the the unique blade shape of the knives with the ricasso.

And also, three with the birds eye on the pommel.

Also note, there are some without ricasso.

These are all very early versions, note the spanners and nuts, and the unique grip plates.

I think this maker mark is the earliest on these early Packs, according to Fishers, it dates to 1933.
Note that these blades have no ricasso.

This next pic illustrates that there are no fixed 'rules' when we try to 'classify' a type or variant.
Note the knife on the left - early no-ricasso but it has a maker mark and RZM mark.

By the way, this is not my collection... I wish it was!

The owner has graciously allowed me to post it here - thanks again!

Hi janjan, thanks, if you have some others it would be great to see them too.

Interesting to note that all of these knives have the motto, and there are no later RZM only examples.

The latest being the 1939 with a motto, nothing later than that.

Does anyone notice anything that might be considered unusual about the transitional knives?

Regards

Russ

That is a good observation janjan, but that is quite common on HJ knives.

Keep looking.
