I need help authenticating this dagger. RZM M7/42 1940 dated dagger. Magnetic scabbard with paper inside, diamond does not wiggle, diamond shows wear but there is still gold that remains and can be seen upon close up inspection. What are your thoughts? Is this a real HJ knife? Also I put it next to picks of my early HJ dagger, the early dagger is shorter and appears to have been cut down or sharpened? Can anyone confirm my opinion on why that blade would be short?

Original knife but the plates may have been replaced at some point. Note the gap around the obverse rivet.

Your early knife may have had a damaged blade at the tip and the upper edge, and has been re-shaped.

Regards
