Hello everyone, this is a very interesting Hitler Youth knife. It has been modified to look more like a standard fighting knife. These modifications appear very old leading me to believe that they were done during the war. The blade appears to be transitional from 1936.The cross guard seems to be hand worked brass made specifically for this blade. While the handle appears to have once belonged to some other ornate knife, perhaps a from a cutlery set. The style of the handle is art nouveau which was popular in Germany from 1890-1910. It seems to be made out of pewter. I have never seen another HJ knife modified in this way. It would seem to be this looks like a field modified piece of a GI, as it would seem such personal modifications of equipment in the Hitler Youth would be frowned upon. Has anyone else seen something like this or have any ideas of how this blade could have come to be? Thanks everyone.
