It appears that there is smoke trailing in the background .
Was this photo taken near the front lines ? Or was it taken at a training excersize ?
My question is why would a high party official wear his "golden pheasant" uniform near the front lines .. he would for sure be a prize tempting target for snipers .

This Foto war near Frontlinie.But i think it was after the Battle.You are right with the sniper.Sade not to undertake such a risk.Walter Hoernlein was GD Kdr since 10.08.41.As I said Baldur von Schirach was with GD in France.Thereafter hat a long and close relationship GD with HJ.Schirach has more Friends in GD and was more time guest on GD.

Interesting photo of Schirach in his Gauleiter uniform.

Schirach volunteered to GD in 1940, and he won the Iron Cross in France. In August 1940 he was appointed Governor and Gauleiter of Vienna.
