That's a very nice photo. Nice early sleeve rune and good view of a non-standard knife as Christian says.
 
This boy also has a hatband strap applied to his cap .

AIN'T nothing wrong there several of us have examples . You should get some good reference books it will be a great help

It still looks ugly to me; this is what I meant by "wrong" - no implication that is was not authentic.
 
Also the chinstrap is OK, but in most cases it was hidden on the inside of the cap.

Wilhelm Saris is working on a book for Bender Publishing, which will deal with HJ headgear. He will also write about this cap with/without visible chinstrap.
