Yes, thrue the years this became a well-known repro-photograph.

Actually: the original photographers glass plates were owned by Ernst Szabo
from Austria . He bought over 3,500 of them, all showing uniform photographs, including much
SA, SS, HJ, Feldherrnhalle, army, airforce, navy or whatever. He always sold them as repro.
I bought a series from him with HJ. With many of the photographs from the HJ you see
the Edelweiss-flower, the Austrian form being worn upon the right lapel.

Many Szabo-photographs are known by now, as they were published in books and fora.
You find them with many names credited, but a true fact is that the photograph is a Szabo one!

In a coming book about TR gorgets, which will have 704 pages, there will be quite a large chapter
reserved for the HJ. Maybe this chapter will have about 60 pages, due to the fact the HJ-organization
was the only organization that also did wear arm-patches for flag-bearer's, having the number, which
corresponds with the number upon the gorget (and of course the flag).

Hello, on which photo paper are these repros made? Can you give us a view about the other Szabo fakes? That would be helpfull for all portrait photo collectors.

Thanks and regards,
Sven

The paper from those photographs does not have any printing for a marking
or lines. That's for sure, as I have had a look. I just know when the photograph
comes from Szabo when I see one. Often these photographs are scanned or
reproduced. The "original" one is then sold again (for those that believe as originals).
If you own volume 2 from Angolia's "The HJ" and have a look on page 187 then
you see a typical Szabo-photograph, credited too Lautenschlaeger.

I do not own anymore the survey-photographs, which I had gotten from Szabo.
The shown photographs were so small you hardly could see what it was about.
Only when having some uniform-knowledge you could identify them. I guess
the size for each photograph was about 1.5 cm in length. So there was much
shown on a photoprint of about 8 x 10 cm. I have thrown them away when I did
not need them anymore.

By the way, you asked for his address, but I haven't found it yet! Will have a
further look in the basement tomorrow. Can't promise you anything. Szabo quite
often is attending shows in southern-Germany. I thought I have seen him at the
show of Reichertshofen. Maybe he is attending late November Kassel. I will have
a look.

Here's the one I coloured in. Let's see if this ever turns up on mil321 ;)

Hello Garry,

if you are pleased I can exchange my b/w photo in the chapter for HJ from the gorget-book,
for the one you have colored . I will properly credit with your name as the person who did the
coloring.
It's not too late yet. I am into checking and controlling the lay-out and the chapter about HJ
I haven't gotten yet. So, if you would be pleased, send the colored photo too my private
email-adress and I will take care for that.

Hope to hear from you,
wim

Hello Garry,

The guy is wearing a Gefolgschaftsführer lanyard (green-white) and not a Kameradschaftsführer one !

Best regards

This is such an old colouring that I didn't even notice that :)
