I got outbid on Ebay at 30 Euro on this photo.
But I still do not know what it shows for sure. :help:

I thought it might be Boy Scout related since the fleur-de-lis (Lilie) and the woggle (Halstuchknoten).
On the other hand I also see the very tip of a membership pin on the left breast pocket and a lanyard.
So I thought maybe someone here might be able to help. Especially with the large insignia on the sidecap.
The top of the pin is hard to spot due to the forum watermark, sorry.
I hope for your input gentlemen! Thank you for taking the time.

It looks similar to a region crest. I have a West German police visor hat from Frankfurt with a star shaped metal badge like this on it with the Hessen colors in the center. Just a guess though.

Thank you for this idea, I have just checked our Polizeisterne.
These police stars do all have 12 rays, some old ones or MP ones have 8 rays.
It all started with the old Prussian Order of the Black Eagle (8 rays).
The star was used by the first Prussian police forces with a different center.

The one on the sidecap has 10 rays. This seems to be uncommon.

An Edelweiß badge is a good idea. Thank you for that input.
The scarf insignia is clearly related to the German Boy Scouts and is still in use with one organisation today.

Edelweiss

Hello,

On the side cap, the 2 insignias are :
_The
Scout lily (Bundesabzeichen) of the "Christliche Pfadfinderschaft Deutschlands (CPD)" formed in 1921 and who transferred voluntary to the HJ in 1933.
_The "Traditionsabzeichen" (the Edelweiss) of the bavarian units, here the Jungvolk. The SA, the NSKK and the HJ wore a metal badge. A cloth badge was manufactured machine embroidered and machine woven for the Jungvolk.

Best regards

Wow, Thank you for the illustrations. The sidecap and the Edelweiss in the first picture seem to be similar to the one in my photo.
Thank you also for the details on metal Edelweiss and the cloth editions which the Jungvolk used. I had not noticed the difference yet.

The Scout insignia of the CPD is a bit different to the one shown in my photo.
(Huesken is wrong in his booklet. The pin he is showing dates from the 1960s)
