Part of a letter from Stubs to his friend Hermann Schmid, 1. Flieger Ausbildungs Regiment 22, Kaufbeuren

Letter dated 15 February 1941

"... Last Wednesday 8 members of Flieger-HJ were in Herbrechtingen to the funeral of a Flieger-HJ comrade. His name was Erich Maier and last Sunday he was killed when he crashed in the Eselsburger Tal. At the funeral the priest agitated against the youth, and said that we, his comrades, are nothing but gypsies (Zigeuner) and that the boy only crashed because he did not go to church. Because of this, Sturmführer Moser has now complained to the Kreisleitung."

Herbrechtingen is a town in the district of Heidenheim in Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany.

Eselsburger Tal (valley) is a protected nature reserve near Herbrechtingen.

Interesting , I would bet the priest ended up at Dachau .

being that the catholic church had some support for the final solution he was most likely transferred discretely by the church and nothing more said :canada1
