Stenography had in those days nothing to do with work in the first place. For teens back then it was great fun.
Those who liked stenography were -similarly as nowadays nerds- some kind of an elite.
It had something to do with cryptography and with high tech communication.
Boys as well as girls knew this skill, secretaries in offices were not all females in those times.
So it is not unusual to find photos of teens in HJ/BDM clothes in these booklets during the TR.
