Here I have a Marsch-Kompass "Jugend"
It's markes with "S" for C. STOCKERT & Sohn
and DRGM for Deutsches-Reichs-Gebrauchs-Muster.

Sadly the top cover is broken at the hinge.

That's a neat item, never seen one of those before. Is that made out of bakelite, or metal? Also, is the small ruler on the side used for judging distance on a map somehow?

It's made out of bakelite. I don't know if the ruler was for judging distances, but it's possible. Nice detail, the needle, the 4 points of the compass and the triangel which is marking the north pole are fluorescent and glowing in the dark - just after all the years!

Hello

I'm not sure this Stockert "Jugend" compass is pre 45. I prefer models who is marked DRGM or DRP but not "Germany".

A little different one

Here's mine it's marked DRGM

My first post :001_smile:

Here is a similar one to Hohenlohe´s.
It´s a fleamarket find from last weekend.
All that is missing is "Germany"...
I tend to think it´s made of plastic, not bakelite?

Cheers,
taube.

That´s quite common for export reasons.
"Made in germnay" was a qualitiy factor before the war already.
I guess, one wanted to make use of the reputation.

I've seen the same compass in a local store which got many militairy items, but whats a good price for this kompass??
owner wants to have 75 euro.
Its to much???

Thanx for the reply and extra info.
I really appriciate that greetsz

How can I verify the authenticity of this Marsch Kompass "Jugend" with the S and D R G M on the back? See attached pics. My dad passed away and I found it in his desk. My mother almost tossed it in the trash.
The bezel rotates smoothly, the lid clicks in tight, no cracks or body or hinges. Nice piece.

Where can I find the value of this item? I cannot find any similar on line.
Thank you,

Thank you,

Dealers tend not to sell these because they can't leverage prices enough to make it worth them stocking them because they aren't RZM'd and RJF'd and they can't be completely declared as "HJ". However, if you do find one on a dealer site at some point you should subtract 20%-50%. That's where a collector might be interested but for an item like this you won't get a lot. 10 bucks would be my personal max if I were looking for one (which I'm not:)) )
