For the Leistungsabzeichen, they had to carry 5 or 7½ kg., depending on their ages.

A: 15 years, 10 km., between 2-2½ hours, 5 kg.

B: 16 years, 15 km., between 3-3 3/4 hours, 5 kg.

C: 17 years and older, 20 km. between 4-5 hours, 7½ kg

km = kilometer
kg = kilogram

Required contents of the backpack (Tornister):

1 brown shirt, 1 coloured reserve shirt.

Underwear, socks, towels, handkerchiefs, nightwear, sportswear, bathingtrunks, sleepingbag.

Soap, washingcloth, toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, brush, mirror, razor, talc, skinlotion.

Training pants, training shoes, shoe polishing kit, sewing kit, safety pins, laces, tentbag, reserve boots, sweater, writing paper, pencil.

I wonder how they found place for all this in the backpack?

They also had to carry tent "Zeltbahn", carpet, breadbag, water, cooking and eating kit, food, part of the items belonging to the group and .... and .... and...!

Thanks for the info, interesting post. I was curious what exactly they carried in their tornisters, as compared to adult soldiers. I figured it was a basic change of clothes, soap, towels, etc and camping equipment. Nice touch that they had to have a pencil and paper!
