Bought some years ago, this camera has the HJ Rhombus on the front...... opinions please !

Hi,

There were certainly box cameras aimed at the youth market in the 1930s with the Zeiss Ikon 'Baldur' being the most obvious example but this had more to do with economics than any official endorsement by the RJF or other direct affiliation with the HJ. The choice of name was nothing more than a tactic to sell more cameras so with that in mind I think that any similarities between the design on your camera and the HJ diamond are purely coincidental.

Edit: I was wrong. The camera shown by Ernst in post #1 is the Beier-Box, another of the cameras aimed at the youth market. The design is indeed said to be based on the HJ diamond: http://www.krahe-sw.de/FALTBALGENKAMERAS/kamerasammlung/Beier/beier.htm
