I have just purchased a small flag collection and one of the ones that swung it for me was this one. The unit is for the Alsace region - Guebwiller, near Colmar.
The pole is dated 38 the pole top is also 38 AND the rings are all 38!

I understand that Wilhelm Saris has it in his book (one that I cannot get easily) I am also led to believe that Wilhelm knew the collector in Belgium that originally had it

It really is the pinnacle atm - I am keeping it for a long time as to get another is impossible and it wasn't cheap!! - enjoy

Hey John, great to see this flag back after many years.
Yes, I know the collector quite well and he is always helpful
when I ask him questions.
He has an enormous collection of flags. Cannot remember
the amount, but it may run in hundred or less or about.
His prices are for most collectors at a high range. He also owns
the HJ-Bann flag 426 and Jungbann-flag 916 and some Wimpel
for BDM and Jungmädel.

It is not difficult to get the HJ-Handbook when ordering directly
from Bender Publishing. but I know the shipping price is quite high.
This discourages many collectors to buy it!

The shipping is nearly as expensive as the book Wilhelm. But I have my "book guy" who is going to get one for me in mid June :)
Thanks - I do like this flag very much - and intend keeping it for a while

I have also found it very hard to locate a cheap copy here in the UK John. Costs more for shipping than the book is selling for in some cases.
Great flag!! :good:
