Hi
Looking at the both mentioned flag eagles I wounder if they are the same size just different thread color? The DJ eagle seems bigger to me maybe just an optical illusion? I have not seen an regulation speaking of this measurements, is there any?
Thanks for any info
Regards Dirk

When in March 1935 the regulation for the various HJ-flags was published in the
Verordnungsblatt der HJ, it just said Bannfahne and Jungbannfahne, no exact
details nor sizes. With the other flags there were given some sizes. Not with the
two, most important flags! These flags were not described in the Mitteilungsblatt
der RZM
.

Maybe Garry can help.

Hi Dirk,

Yes, as Wim says, the Bann and Jungbann flags are mentioned in the 1935 order but it fails to give any dimensions for them. I haven't found any sources that give those dimensions.

Thank you very much Wim for asking your friend. It will help all of us to get an impression of these flags. I had once a HJ Bannfahne for inspection and I put butterpaper over it and redrew it. I have to see where it is and I will take a Picture.
Thanks again Dirk

Here are his dimensions:
1. Bannfahne HJ 426 Hohenberg:
-Size of flag 137 x 191 cm
-Size of eagle 60-65 x 134
-Size of ribbon: 45 width x 14 from base to top height, ribbon itself is 7-7,5cm height (same on Jungbannfahne)
-Hammer length : 24 cm and sword 56cm (same on Jungbannfahne)
-HKK 14 cm (as it is sewn vertically) (same on Jungbannfahne)
2. Jungbbannfahne DJ 916 Kissingen:
-Size of flag 115 x 160
-Size of eagle 62 x 128 cm

Hope this helps. Regards, wim

Thank you very much Wim and thank you to your friend too!!
I also dug tru my cave and found the butterbread copy I made of a HJ Bannfahne. Here its dimensions:
length 1,91
height 46x47x46 (red -white-red) total 1,39
eagle height 60
eagle length 1,33
hammer 25
sword 57
swatz 10x10
scrol 54 x9

well comparing them to yours the are generally the same with a few cm here and there more or less!
I will try for better images on my butterbread.
Thanks
Dirk

Wim Saris said:
First the HJ Bann-flag from 426, existing since August 1, 1937
for district 29, Süd-Württemberg with its headquarters at Horb.

Second, close-ups from a very damaged flag with two ribbons:
545 existed since June 16, 1938 in disctrict 30, being Südost
Steiermark with its headquarters at Graz. The oe27 ribbon
stands for the old district Steiermark-Ost with its headquarters
at Graz. As such it existed August 1, 1933. This flag was
sacrified at Postdam January 24, 1934 at the Garnisonskirche
at Postdam.

The 426 flag was once in the possession of my friend Ph.Gillain,
he also owned a Jungbann-flag (see second image); the oe27
once was in the possession of mr. Wolfgang Meier from Austria.

The ribbon with 916 was sewn over another ribbon, which I do
explain with the caption.
The HJ and DJ flags are very heavy and are double sided. I held
both during a visit at my friend. I pity the lads carrying these
flags on a long pole. It must have been awaful for them to walk
around with it. But as always there were two seconds (Begleiter).
