I have a sign in a book that is the LEDENS RUNE, but with two vertical lines on the trunk. Can anyone tell me what this means?

Not that I know anything about runes but it seems to be mixed in with anglo-saxon runes? Is it a ligature perhaps?

It's the combination of two runes to create a new meaning/letter:

Fascinating. Have you any idea what the sign might mean?

These are the runes as to be found in "Schlag nach"!
from 1938. So, Third Reich!!

From what period the sign is you note us here,
I have no idea. Maybe a mistake and "thought",
having seen it.

I think one was confused and mixed the Lebensrune
with another sign, as included in this list. These
signs came into being in 1943 and were published
in the "Deutsche Uniformen-Zeitschrift" from August,
15, 1943:

Look at the one for Zahnarzt (dentist)!

Dear Wilhelm.
This is fantastic. I had no idea the book existed. I'm now trying to find a copy that doesn't cost the earth. I don't suppose you know if libraries hold copies or has this book been quietly left to disappear?

I could get you the 1938 edition of Schlag nach, that Wilhelm mentioned and showed the rune page from,
for about 30 Euro (including shipping and handling), if you need one.
Just contact me and paypal me the money.
You may find it even cheaper somewhere, if you keep look long enough.
