Fantastic research Henrik. Would each of these schools have a seperate sleeve insignia, the round or diamond shaped one that lists the school name and number?

I would think so. But it's not confirmed.

I'll show some of the badges later.

Thanks for showing that one Paul. Another question regarding the insignia is why are some encountered with lettering in white, and some in yellow , particularly the round ones?

Is this the type you mean Darin? Fliegerhorst Ansbach Lehrwerkstätte (Ansbach Airfield Training Workshops)

The original school name "Flieger Technische Vorschule" was changed during the war to "Technische Vorschule der Luftwaffe".

The rhomboid badge with the name of the school was worn on the lover left sleeve of the uniform jacket. It replaced an earlier sleeveband with the school name.

The round badge (with a number, 1 to 4) is a "Jahrgangsabzeichen" showing the year of apprenticeship. The badge was worn on the upper left sleeve of the working jacket/coverall.

Thanks for the replies gents. and for showing all the different patches, really interesting stuff. Would the Bann 83 Kassel shoulder straps be worn with the Kassel cufftitle? Or did the students use the Flakhelfer type straps?

The straps were black with blue piping and blue Bannnumer.

These boys/young men considered themselves as an elite.

Karl Zmugg (photos in post #14) became a "Fluzeug-Motoren-Schlosser" and worked for fighter squadrons 77 and 27. He survived the war.

Fliegertechnische Vorschule Luckenwalde

Addition to the list of schools:
Luckenwalde

Sources:
1. Photoalbum

Luckenwalde is a Kreisstadt in Bundesland Brandenburg, in the eastern part of Germany.

I have been trying to make a list of all the Flieger-Technischen Vorschulen (Aeronautical Prepatory Technical Schools).

According to Angolia, there were 32 locations, and he lists 21.

DID all these have school insignia if so some must be very rare. Seems there are several out there and that is it.

:canada1

I don't know if they were produced for all the schools.

According to regulations, the cufftittle/armband was a part of the uniform. Some time during the war, the cufftitle was replaced by the arm diamond.

In my latest photalbum from a Fl. Tech. school, there is only one photo with cufftitles, and that is on brown hj shirts.

I think the number of students at some of the schools were smaller than other, and therefore the school insignia are rare or no longer existing.
