NPEA cap for wear in civilian clothing?

AS an adjunct to this thread, here is a red German school cap well mothed but intact and came with a decent vet lot a couple years ago. Any comment about this very welcome.

Very similar to the Burschenschaft (student fraternity) visors Paul:

'....The traditional colors of the fraternity are black, red and gold, as they were already out of Urburschenschaft...'

most interesting thanks for the link Garry. I always understood that the different cap represented various schools of higher learning and now wonder if the NAPOLA schools could have worn these for civil walking out dress. Doe anyone else have a school cap of different colour or style ?

this cap is very old , I think it is from the 20s or before
