I have had this triangle for some time, but I have just read in Wim’s “Handbook of the H J” that it’s ”considered as quite rare”.

Do any of you know why this triangle is rare??

I know that we have several “triangle-specialist” on this forum, and it would be nice to have a list where the most rare got the grade 10 and down to the most common who got the grade 1, or something like that.

Does such a rarity-list exist in any form?

It could be very useful for us, who not is a specialist on this area. We see many different prices on triangles, so such a list could avoid burning fingers.

Silly idea, or ? Let me get some response.

And at last but not at least:

Merry Christmas and Happy New year to all members of this forum and their families.

Hi Michael, you are right, this one is rare and not easy to find. If you ever want to get rid of it I will take it for sure.

As far as I know, no such list exists by now, but maybe we cann all work together and create it.

Let's start with those: (in no particular order...)

RJF Wachgefolgschaft
RJF Stab
most of the AHS triangles
all of the NPEA triangles
Nord Ostsee
Bann Binnenschifffahrt
Bann Seefahrt
the foreign countries like China, Brasil, USA, Turkey, etc.
most of the OST Gebiete
all of the Rundfunkspielschar triangles
Akademie
and I am sure there are some more hard to find ones...

Can anybody put them in an order?

Hi guys

I just discovered, that there is a complete list over the standard triangles on a WIKI-page, and combined with the triangles mentioned by Michael we got most of them.

Do any of the "trinagle-specialists" have the time and desire to make some form of rarity modeling, maybe on the WIKI-page ??

I am sure, there are some more to add to this list. Especially the NPEA section is not complete.

Please do NOT distribute this list over the internet.

If you add something, copy the whole list into a new reply, so the latest reply will always include the most up to date list. Thank you!

Hi

Very fine list Michael, thanks for it. I have saved it for my own use.

The WIKI-page I referred to, is the WIKI-page on this forum.

Press nr. 3 button on top bar called: HJ-Research Wiki

Then press: Wiki - Cloth Badges and Insignia

Then on top of the list: triangle

and then you can se a lot of information about triangles.

Here is also a link: https://www.hj-research.com/forum/showwiki.php?title=triangle

BUT WE STILL NEED SOMONE TO RANK THE TRIANGLES AFTER RARITY.

Michael :denmark

You are absolutely right, there will be several no. 1.

What I ment was, that one with the knowledge could take the list and say (10 for most rare and 1 for common) :

NPEA: very rare - I give it 10
AHS school - very rare - I give it 10
Nord Niedersachsen - common - I give it 1
Ost Berlin - rare - I give it 8

This is only an example of how to do.

One could also use: Extremely rare - very rare - rare - scarce - common.

It is up to the guy who have the knowledge to decide a ranking system for the triangles.

Michael :denmark

Ah yes, I know this page. Quite some information missing there..
About the ranking... don´t know who could do this.. I guess there would be more than one number 1...

What is the use of it? Maybe I do not see this, as I do not collect, but a sort of ranking
for rarity is for me superfluous. Just my opinion! The only danger that comes up in me
is that prices will go up even more!

As I can understand what Michael wants to achieve with this list I do also agree with Wim that this could have a negative influence on the prices. (Which are already over the top for some of the triangles...)

My purpose with such a list was to keep prices down on many of the triangles, as I see very high prices - in my opinion - on ordinary triangles.

Since I can conclude that I seem to be the only one who would like such a list, I would like to put a big sentence for my thread

I think quite the opposite would happen. Just imagine you have one triangle to sell. You would have to look up the list on this forum to find the price for it. As we all know - there are some sellers who freak out when they know something came from the 3R and will ask silly prices for it. So if they want to have a certain price for it, they will ask for it. And someone WILL buy it. Just look at Weitze. His prices are ridiculous sometimes and he KNOWS that he can ask those prices, because if some rare triangle will come up it will be sold in no time.

I am happy to discuss the rarity of some triangles in private, but we should keep this to ourselves and don´t make it public. :)

One should not even write books. As far as I can remember prices for triangles went up,
when my handbook was published in 2009.

And keeping the information to ourselves, will fail. In the seventies and early 1980's many
wanted to have my information about Bann-numbers. I then did not give them, as I had
found out that when copying particular stuff, the information was copied again and again
and sold to other collectors. That was one of the reasons I started planning a book about
such subjects in 1995.

Ah yes, I know this page. Quite some information missing there..

That's because noone has added it yet. The wiki is a group project and as such all members can add to it. I don't have the time to create a page for every aspect of the HJ and fill it with info on my own. If I tried I would end up looking like this --> :w00t:
