I just got this yesterday, in a small lot of Nazi stick pins. I understand that it is a "Young Sisters" stick pin. My question is: Did this organisation cease to exist after the BDM came into being? What year would this likely be from. Thanks

Hi,

This is a Jungschwestern badge for female members of the Jungdeutscher Orden. Due to the difference between the political aims of the Orden and those of the National Socialists there will have been no direct 'lineage' to the BDM i.e. it's unlikely that former members would have gone straight over to the BDM when that began to form in 1930. The Jungdeutscher Orden was banned by the NSDAP and it voluntarily disbanded in 1933. There was also a youth section of the Jungdeutscher Orden called the 'Jungdeutsche Jugend'.

I totaly agree with Garry. Though I'd say that probably in some cases younger members of the Jungdeutsche Jugend joined the Jungmädel or Jungvolk and a little less likly BdM and HJ. The oportunities given by the NS youth organisations where just too seductive. But as said no direct line to NS youthgroups. Though very conservative the Jungdeutsche Orden did not agree on most of the NS Weltanschauung. Some Jungdeutsch Orden leaders ended up in prison and worse.

Thanks for the info guys. It doesn't take much imagination to figure out what is worse than prison.
