Hello,

For those who are interested, here is the full list of all HJ regional leaders in 1943

Best regards

Eric

Admin Edit: the list came from the 1991 book shown in post #3. However, it contains a lot of errors and also doesn't include the k.-Gebietsführer who covered the Gebietsführer when they were away so a new project was subsequently commenced here: List of Gebiet and Obergau leaders 1933-45

Thanks Eric :thumb: Where did you find the list?

Hi Garry,

Just thinking... How about a list of all HJ Gebiet leaders (HJ-Gebietsführer), BDM Obergau leaders (Obergauführerinnen) and the Gebietsjungvolkführer from 1933 onwards by year? I love going over the top with lists and I'm sure that we could fill in quite a few gaps and come up with a useful reference.

Hi Eric,

The 1943 list in post #1 above lists someone who was dead in 1943 so it would be useful to know whether there is a footnote showing the name/date of the source document. I can then understand the error(s) in the list.

Hello Garry,

thank you very much for your huge research work. Concerning the sources of contemporary historians, they do not always mention them.
I imagine well that they did not invent either.
Best regards

Eric

Hi Eric,

I don't think that they invented it but that listing is nevertheless incorrect in many places.

Can anyone decipher this signature?

Checked out some old newspapers from Ostpreussen and this must be the signature of Oskar Dobat, the k-Gebietsführer Ostpreussen. An article dated 30.9.1942 shows that he took up his post in that month (the pic that I posted is from one month later). He appears to have remained in post until the end. Strange signature but definitely his.

Hi Eric,

Yes, I originally used that 4/1944 date given by Buddrus in my lists but today I found a newspaper article from 30.9.1942 that reports on his appointment as k-Gebietsführer Ostpreußen vice Boekmann who went off to war. You can see that here (page three under the photo). Was nice to find it and all because Dobat had a strange way of signing his name :)

MÖLLER, ALBRECHT FRIEDRICH...

Hi Eric,

I have owned a copy of the Buddrus book that you quote here and in your previous post for some years now. If you look at the tables you will see that I reference this excellent publication often. I have not found or seen evidence that Möller was ever the actual Gebietsführer Ostland if this is what you are implying with your post.

I have a reference here, Verordnungsblatt RJF Nr.4 10.3.1933, which shows that Möller was a Gebietsführer without portfolio (z.b.V.) and that, effective from the 1st of March 1933, he had been assigned to the staff of Gebiet Ostland. The reference doesn't say that he was previously Gebietsführer Ostland and in the absence of evidence that he was, we should consider that he wasn't. The evidence currently available suggests only that he was slated for the position if and when he was required.

My lists only contain personnel who can be shown to have actually held the respective appointments but clearly, if anyone can provide evidence that Möller was the Gebietsführer of Ostland at some point before 1.3.1933 I will of course include that in my lists. However, your list in post #1 of this thread purporting to show the leaders of all of the Gebiete in 1943 has Möller in charge which is simply and demonstrably wrong. The list from that book has many other errors too and in fact, only six of the entries are fully correct. Three others are partially correct and the rest are incorrect with some of them even having dead men in post.

As far as Dobat is concerned, the evidence shows that he initally took up his appointment of Gebietsführer of Ostpreussen in 1942 and not in 1944 as mentioned in the Buddrus book. The fact that Buddrus gives us the April 1944 date must mean that he saw it in a reference which in its turn means that it is possible that:

Dobat required a temporary replacement at some point between then and September 1942 or...
his appointment changed from k-Gebietsführer to Gebietsführer in April 1944 after being confirmed in post by the RJF.

We can't know what Buddrus' reference said but actually it's irrelevant in the context of my lists as we now know that Dobat was the k-Gebietsführer in 1942.
