so must assume there are no questions on this cap ? Want to be sure before it is listed to the public.
Hi Paul,

a similar HJ cap was sold at Kai Winkler a few years ago, I do not know what to think about this HJ Cloth diamond.
Little information about this one....

Hello Paul,

I have also seen no originals with the woven diamond.
Should not there be a label "Tuchmütze"?

Best regards

Yes a label "Jugenmütze HJ" here should be however in my opinion a label "Tuchmütze" in it ...

Look at what Böhme & Steinbach were making in Gera in 1939:

Fire and air defence equipment. From "HJ" hats to hoses? Seems unlikely...

As Falco and Eric mentioned, the label "Jugendmütze" would be correct on a HJ summer cap.

What's going on with that lower red cord?

The cloth diamond was introduced in 1940 for the summer cap only.

What a strange hat... Is it possibly a hat from a different NSDAP organisation that has been tampered with to make it appear to be HJ?

According to the 1936 manufacturing-regulations from the RZM
a brown tag is correct for a HJ-Dienstmütze up to and including
Unterbannführer. The word Jugendmütze is correct for that!
The lower red piping might be a mistake from the manufacturer.

What the stamp Böhme & Steinbach Gera means is a question.
Amongst the about 1,500 official RZM manufacturers of headgear
not such name was listed. Not given a permission, nor found as
revoked. And normally no cloth diamond was to be worn with a
orm of headgear like this!

In some ways the cap is anyway questionable!

(for crack) and NO, there was no NSDAP organization that did use
a cap like this.

Maybe, but they did not have an RZM-permission and that was required
for manufacturing headgear for a political organization.
This concern was mentioned for their fire-brigade and air-defence equipment,
for example in the "Feuerwehr Jahrbuch", issued 1938/1939.
They were not listed as manufacturer's for headgear for political organizations!

Yes, I think this is what Gary meant i.e. that a firm making air defence and fire equipment is not going to have been making hats like this (and certainly not for the HJ).

Yep, that is indeed what I meant :thumb:
