    HJ Overseas Cap Sommermütze

    Hello guys,

I want to show You my overseas cap.
Is this cap intended for the HJ or BDM?! I have no idea..

And are both cap and pin original?
The pin is RZM marked M1/6
Could it be maker Karl Hensler from Pforzheim?

    Thank You!

You have a good , original cap . It looks like it may have had a cloth political eagle at one time also .

    Is the pin also original?

Why do you think it may have had a cloth eagle?! I see no traces about a cloth eagle on it..

Your sommermutze has an earlier pattern RzM tag problibly around 1937 . This cap also has the metal HJ pin attached .
Giving these two facts ... In my opinion this cap was made between 1936 to 1941 as regulations forbid the wearing of the metal HJ pin on the sommermutze , being replaced by the cloth HJ cap diamond from mid 1942 onwards .
Going back to your original question ... if you look closer to the front of your cap you can make out small snags above the piping ...This is evidence of a cloth eagle .
Around 1940 the cloth eagles were ordered removed .

Thanks for the additional info Joecool!

So it's normal that this cap has an attached pin and a removed cloth eagle?

Do you think this pin is period attached on the cap?
I think it is, but I'm not sure..

Your cap , as it is ; would be within regulation from 1940 to 1942 .
