Right before the end of 2010, this morning the best HJ piece of the year arrived to me back home after having crossed the ocean. I am very happy with it and I was looking for one of these caps since a couple of years. Interestingly the insignia is not stitched "shaped" but as a trapezoid. Your comments are welcome.

nice but unusual eagle never seen that before on these caps and being early version as well

Cap is the common pre 1941 version .
I have seen many of them , however ; I have not seen this type of sewing to a pre 41 cap like this ....with the sides folded and sewn . The others I have seen in hand , have had the sides folded to the shape of the eagle .

Here is a scan of how the ones I have seen and held in hand , have been folded and sewn .

Hi Joe,

yes, that what I tried to say with my broken english :001_cool:

I never saw it with a trapezoid like insignia but it appears unmolested and no trace of previous stitchings.
