    Postwar social/pension law

    There are HJ related informations and definitions in the paragraphs of the German Socialgesetzbuch - German Book of Social Law.

    An important term is "Ersatzzeit". It is a legal term in the German pension insurance legislation.

    "Ersatzzeit"
    - defines the periods where you do not need to pay pension contributions, and the periods are included in the calculation of the pension.

    - are periods for which the insured persons can not pay contributions for reasons they are not responsible for.

    - are certain periods without insurance obligation after completion of 14 years of age and historically limited until the day before 1 January 1992nd

    The periods include:
    - War service (Kriegsdienst) in first and second worldwar
    - prisoner of war (Kriegsgefangenschaft
    - military service (Wehrdienst)
    - German mine bomb disposal (Deutschen Minenräumdienst)
    - Reichsarbeitsdienst (RAD)
    - times of persecution by the Nazis
    - times of expulsion or flight, internment, deportation and arrested by Germans as a result of the second world war.

    Socialgesetzbuch VI - German Book of Social Law, vol. 6. - SGB VI

    SGB VI § 250, section 1, number 1: regulates the recognition of military and military-like service, times a prisoner of war, times of the German mine disposal unit and times of a subsequent illness or involuntary unemployment as a replacement time.

    (SGB VI § 250, Abs. 1, Nr. 1: regelt die Anrechnung von militärischem und militärähnlichem Dienst, Zeiten einer Kriegsgefangenschaft, Zeiten des deutschen Minenräumdienstes sowie Zeiten einer anschließenden Krankheit oder unverschuldeten Arbeitslosigkeit als Ersatzzeit.)

    Yes indeed. There are aspects of german law that were introduced/modified by the NSDAP that are still extant today.
