Finally I got the set from Angolia. Maybe my expectations were too high but I am not really impressed by these 2 books. I find the Baker trilogy more interesting but that's probably also because the Angolia books were printed earlier. I will give them a chance

The Angolia books are just one tool that HJ collectors should have. There are some errors in the books, but overall they show some nice items. The books are weak on areas like HJ structure and specialist HJ units. A combination of reference books are needed, and these are just one set, along with the Baker series that every HJ collector should be familiar with. Wim's new book should fill a lot of gaps left by the other authors, but there is no substitute for studying period items hands on and experience.

I agree with you Darin, so they'll stay as reference.
Interestingly I couldn't find any remark regarding the association between HJ ranks and lanyards. I was eager to read more about it because again there are odd pictures also on Angolia regarding that.
I will probably end up buying WIm's book anyway, but I am wondering if it will be of any use, now that I am more oriented towards uniforms and equipment rather than insignia and district triangles?

IMO, any good reference book will come in handy som day. even though you don't see any use for it now, mayby in a few moths/years you'll re-start collecting badges insigna aso. and you'll be glad you've good that book.

If you don't, prices will continue to go up and up. so mayby you're happy in a few you bought it now.

That's a pretty decent price Paul. I've seen them go for higher many times.
