Saw this one as well Paul. Angolia's Vol 2 page 33 shows one that's similar, but not exactly like this one. The patch in the book is embroidered not bevo type weave. This is the descriptor from the book.

"1st pattern Feldscher, a machine embroidered white 40mm high/wide cross on a 55mm bright red circular field. This 1st pattern (1933) qualification badge was worn on the lower left sleeve, 3cm above the sleeve end or above any other qualification badge authorized for wear."

The book does not state if there is only one type of construction for this badge or not. The price isn't too bad to take a chance on it, and I think you could return it if not happy with it.

got to find that book or maybe the new one will include things like this. Have been eyeing this for some time so will gamble as the bevo weave is correct

thanks DARIN

As Darin says, this Feldscher patch definitely existed. The first two pics below are from 'Die Uniformen der HJ' from 1933. A slight worry is that the majority of the patches from that period were made of a felt-like material and not cotton like this. However, as I've never seen one of these in the flesh I can't say whether cotton is correct for this particular patch.

I had a dig through the regulations for the Feldscher patch and the date of introduction for the later patch (life rune in red on a white oval - pic 4) was the 2nd of September 1938. This new patch replaced the patch in pic 3 below which at some point had replaced the first pattern of the patch shown in pics 1 and 2.

AS it is not in hand yet all I can say is the weave is correct and appears to be made onto the same material as the seig runes.

Thanks for the comfirmation pics Gary

Nice addition gentleman, if you have the Volume 2 of "Youth led by Youth", you will have a little bit more info about the HJ section it belonged!!

Take care

Kniha o sobě neuvádí, pokud JE Jen jeden typ konstrukce pro tento odznak, Nebo ne. Cena neni Tak Špatný, ABY NA TO šanci, myslim, Ze byste mohli vrátit, pokud nejsou spokojeni s tim.
Hi Guy,
thought you might like to see this photo i have. It was taken at the Bannsportsfest in Plauen on 8-9-1935. Notice the Hitler jugend with the bike is wearing the same medic badge, interestingly he is wearing it above his district triangle and not on his lower sleeve, Edd

Great photo. It's my opinion that specialist patches were worn this way on occasion so that the insignia was still visible when the long sleeve of the shirt was rolled up in the summer months. Definetly not the regulation placement in this photo, thanks for showing it.

NICE TO see this revisited . I have had it in hand for some time now and have no doubts about it's period manufacture virtually the same material and weave as the DJ runes
