Hi

I attach pictures of a BDM pennant - it’s has a different design on each side with BDM on one and not on the other. It has two RZM labels (one on each side of the flag) that are identical and two ink stamps. It’s approximately 103cm long by 56 cm high.

I was wondering what peoples opinions were.

Many Thanks

Hi there,

The presence of RZM tags suggests that the pennant is "RZM" but it isn't. Pennants for the BDM and JM were standardised in 1935 and only certain levels of unit were permitted to carry them. None of them looked like this.

Certain qualifying flags/pennants from the early years did remain in use either because units did not yet have the standardised item or if they had been designated as honour items according to the 1935 regulation. In any case, the Wimpel you show is non-standard yet has two RZM tags. I would be wary of this one if you are thinking of buying it.

Can you make out any of the wording on those RZM tags?
