Hi,

I don't recognise this as being "BDM". Also, Orla Kleidung in Neustadt was a VEB (workers collective) in the Soviet Area of Occupation 1945-1949 and in the later GDR from 1949 until Orla was wound up in 1990. I can't find a company called Orla Kleidung that was producing clothing in Neustadt between 1933 and 1945. The founder of Orla Kleidung was Gustav Winkler who originally began producing work aprons in 1945. They diversified into clothing for children later. Based on that, your jacket must be post-war GDR with added badge and sleeve patch. Can you post a few pics of the trousers please?

thank you for the reply and information...I will take some pictures of the trousers. I purchased this item from the ruptured Duck a couple years ago as a scarce skiing uniform so I am surprised as I didn't expect otherwise.

Ah, I understand now. Yes, when dealers don't know what something is they often call it a "rare variant" after defaulting to one detail around which they create a story. In this case it will be the sleeve patch as females wore it there most of the time.

Here is what the BDM and JM skiing jacket actually looked like:

Some photos also show the girls skiing in the standard velours Kletterweste that they wore as part of the winter uniform:

hi, here are some pics of the pants....no maker marks on them but there is a maker mark on the zipper pull. not sure if these are war time but I have sent a email into the Ruptured duck and should get a reply Monday....liked this uniform or at least concept as I had it on a "singing mannequin .

Thanks for the photos. Yes, the zip is by MEWA (also a GDR product) and the trousers do not, in many specific ways match the regulation youth winter/skiing trousers:

MEWA (Metallwarenindustrie) was a workers collective founded in 1948 as part of the associatation of worker collectives (Vereinigung Volkseigener Betriebe der Metallwarenindustrie [VVB (Z) MEWA).

So, both jacket and trousers are post-war and of GDR production. No doubt about that so you should be able to get your money back.
