did the HJ breadbag have any mandatory color? i see originals that are mostly grey or tan, was any color just issued? or were the tan breadbags just tanned from the sun similar to the wehrmacht ones.

thanks in advance!

The official youth version was field grey (Feldgrau). Regulation youth breadbags had a long leather closure strap that could be used to secure the water bottle. Here's a nice example: RZM regulation HJ breadbag (Brotbeutel) grey

Tan breadbags were sometimes used but they were either civilian or Pol.

many thanks! what exactly is POL? apologies for asking as im still fairly new here!

Here is the invoice from a manufacturer for HJ bread bags from 1937, that gives some information about the RZM's requirements for manufacturers.

The stamp on the invoice says: " Permission A7/11 - production of tent sheets and bread bags ". The RZM controlled everything . Even today a simple slat of wood in Germany needs a certification to be sold - only our politicians don't need any accreditation or testing :noidea::h
