Hello,
I just purchased a HJ Golden Sports Leader badge with a very low number #82. I bought it from a reputable collector, but I am concerned with the way in which the numbers appear. I have seen many of these including fakes, but the size, font and uneven striking of the numbers has me concerned.
I read on another thread that the earliest one discussed on the forum was number 88. There was no picture posted so I am wondering if the very earliest badges were hand stamped? I know that there was only one manufacturer, but does anyone know about what appears to be an unusual size and skewed number stamping?
These were first handed out at the Nuremberg Rally and I am wondering with such a low number, is it possible that the first few dozen were different in their size and consistency of the numbers? Possibly hand stamped to make the deadline???
