bronydd, you have a fabulous collection of field equipment. I saw what was described as an HJ breadbag a few days ago. I was not sure whether it was correct or not. The buttons were brown, and had a cross-hatch type of design on them but no HJ lettering. I couldn't see if they were marked on the reverse. What do the buttons look like on genuine examples?

Russ, i like to see painted steel ''football'' buttons, i doubt if they would be marked, never checked myself, be aware that as the war went on , the coulors seemed to have changed from brown to a greener colour, you have to look for the political type design.

Many thanks - looking at your pics again, they do look like the one on the upper left area. Can't remember if there was another one on the other side or not - I think it was the same as yours shown here.
