Good evening everyone and hope your 2026 is going well!

I recently obtained some negatives from Germany and am having problems trying to identify the district. I have going through the names of all schools, and the picture is blurry, even when enlarged. I tried researching pictures of district triangles, but not a lot to look at. The end part of the district name looks like "burg" but I am not sure.

Any thoughts are welcome and thanks in advance!

Hi Carson

You're right, it's hard to see, but couldn't it be Naumburg??? that's just my guess.

I think it maybe is. The first letter in the District looks like a "T" to me, but then if I cross reference it with the "N" in NPEA, they are very similar. Thank you for your feedback. So nice to have you guys to help me solve an 80 year old mystery.

I'm glad we could help you, Carson.
Here is a similar, though not identical, font for comparison (Koch bold).
I don't even know what the correct one is called; it's not specified in the regulations.

Hi Carson

Giel's Militaria has had this lovely picture of a student at the NPEA Naumburg school.

Too bad it's already sold - maybe to one of the members here on the forum?

Beautiful picture Michael, although I am sad it is sold. :cautious:

Something I have always wondered about is that NPEA students obviously wore the HJ single stripe armband.

Who wore the double stripe armband? Studentbund??? For University students? I am trying to make a shadow box and think I have the wrong armband for NPEA.

The NPEA boys wore the armband made for the Hitler Youth and had nothing to do with the student association.

I make shadow boxes for groups in the Third Reich.

Making these displays for my own enjoyment, allows me to research the group, the militaria associated with the group. I learn so much from web site photos, on-line articles and of course, wonderful forums like we have here and members here that have helped me learn more.

I made a mistake of buying a Studentbund armband, so now need to keep my eyes open for an HJ one. Am I correct that I should try for early construction, or is BEVO more appropriate?

That's right, NPEA schools had nothing to do with universities, but successful graduation entitled students to enrol at a university.
This is also evident from the age range: NPEA students were between 10 and 18 years old.

Since these schools existed throughout the entire TR, you can pick any HJ armband.
