Hello Im completly new here and this is my first thread :)

I got this stuff some time ago and wanted to figure out something about it.
Was there an official HJ or BDM fencing uniform?

Are these pieces authentic?
They should belong to the person from the ID card.
The clothes were used after the war and a patch from a local fencing society was sewed over the swastika.

Hi there,

Yes, the HJ youth sports regulations do talk about a fencing uniform for male and female members of the Hitler Youth. Unfortunately it isn't fully described but it is made clear that the clothing had to meet the required standards at the time which were set by the department responsible for fencing within the NSRL, not by the RJF. The diamond is in the correct place and shows that the wearer was right-handed. Had he/she been left-handed, the badge would have been on the right arm. Fencing club badges would have been worn 3cm below the diamond.

Thank you for your quick reply Garry!
Would be interesting if there is any prove around that these clothes were officially produced for HJ or BDM. But actually I guess they just added the swastika on regular clothing...
Im open for more opinions. :)

Hi,

And welcome to the forum!
They look like period. But it will probably be more like an overcoat. The competition clothes never had buttons, that would have been dangerous.
On the pictures you can see the German youth fencing champions of 1941, Edith Blumenhagen and Dieter Athenstedt (foil and saber respectively) in the competition clothing.

BTW: What's the name of that girl? Anna Sch..., maybe we can find her by the name.

Photo from Sport der Jugend, February 1940.

Can't see if they are HJ-related, but two seems to wear a badge under the left arm. The protective jackets are not identical.

Um, Anna and something with Sch.
Can you lay the page with the signature absolutely flat and then photograph it again as sharply and as large as possible (no flash because of the reflections)?
There is also something corrected, which makes it very difficult to interpret.

Yes, you did a very good job, and so I can tell you that her name is Anna Schüler.
Unfortunately, the bad news is that I have not found anything about her.

In case you're interested and didn't know, the weapon is a nice foil.

Thank you so much for giving this person or konvolut now a name! :)
The seller told me where her fencing society was located. Maybe I can find out more about her.

You're welcome.
If she hasn't moved, it must have been in the Zollern district (Bann 127), says the ID. Good luck!
