Looks like DJ on the left, Flieger HJ on the right.

I agree with crack.

I have "played" a bit with the pic as you see, and the result is why I agree with crack.

It IS difficult, but looking close at the pics I say, that 286 + 835 are Streif and 454 + 742 almost sure that they are Streif - 67 DJ.

But let us see if there are other opinions from other members of this forum :clap2:

Yes, number 67 looks greyish like DJ but wouldn't one expect a rank higher than Oberjungzugführer when wearing HJ-like shoulder straps? The lower ranks (Unterführer) had to wear the standard DJ straps (Schulterstreifen) and according black sleeve rank patches. I can't see holes for missing pips here.

It is possible that it is a faded flieger strap, to be able to determine it 100%, one has to have it in hand. BUT I still think DJ when I se the pic.

Jack, as for the low rank, I've had the same question once - see this thread:

Streifendienst-strap - Bann 57

the answer from Gefolgschaft was (see post 15 and 18): "Agree, it is a DJ strap. As for rank, HJ and DJ straps are often found missing rank devices, or with devices added from my experience."

Hi Michael,

"missing rank devices" means missing pips - but there are no holes on Jean Francois's strap.
Quoting Wim (p324): "For ranks below Fähnleinführer the shoulder straps had no ranking insignia; for those above that rank the shoulder straps were delivered by the RZM with the correct ranking insignia."

So this DJ Hordenführer (not Rottenführer) shouldn't wear a Litze but nothing. Right? So it might be a question of "added ranking device" here.
