I have a B17 oberbann 5 pair also. Why do these look so short?

The straps were sewn in and then folded over. As the end of the strap should be positioned at the sleeve seam of the shoulder and had to fit the button, it was probably folded over more here because the chap probably had small shoulders. My guess.
