Flakhelfer Ranks

Realy interesting thread. I didnt know about Flakhelper ranks either so thanks Jack for your research.

Thanks Crack, even though it is too great an honour. I only have reported some facts of Nicolaisen's research.
But yes, it is a very exciting and complex topic, especially when you are going to deal with regional or local aspects for instance, where the gun emplacements were situated, relocations of Flakhelfer, and so on.
And I personally gained a lot of Wim's Waisenhaus subject, so this thread honestly deserves its more than 40 posts ;-).

If I can find the time, I will scan what is mentioned in the Luftwaffenhelfer-documents I own
and as mentioned in an earlier post, about uniform and ranking system.
At the moment I am very busy with writing a booklet, which I planned to get done in about
September or so. At the moment I need my head for the nearly 300 captions.

Hello
I read but not keeps the article on the difference of the colors of shoulders for a Flakhelfer
blue or grey depending on the position on a battery
can you please confirm it

Never heard of that Jean Francois. What article are you referring to?
The piping of Luftwaffenhelfer straps was light blue/grey blue.
Present-day colour variations may be caused by the ravages of time.

According to Wilhelms Handbook of the Hitler-Jugend, page 494, the Luftwaffenoberhelfer were authorized to wear a 0.5 cm wide aluminium Tresse (braid) on both shoulder straps.

The aluminum colour could look gray.

For further information see Wilhelms book.
